“We heard about the city of Lyon, it seems to us to be a wonderful place to take couple’s photos before or after our wedding in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, but we don’t know where to go” Here is in a few words, how A and C, an American couple, contacted me at the end of the summer.

The challenge was twofold: to help them discover the city of Lyon and to make them feel at ease in a city they did not know so that their photos would be successful.

Lyon, city of lights, capital of French gastronomy is historically very rich. Its various districts bear witness to its past and continue to evolve.

Discovering Lyon through a couple’s photo shoot is very special. According to your desires, your style, it is possible to adapt.

Here are my favourite spots in this city:

The Grand Hotel Dieu, near the Place Bellecour. A jewel of Lyon’s architectural heritage, it has always been a place of life and modernity. Formerly a hospital, this multi-faceted building will surprise you.
La Croix Rousse. This district was once home to the workshops of the Canuts, who made the city’s reputation for silk work. It is home to numerous traboules where you can stroll and marvel at the photo shoot.
The Fourvière hill, where the magnificent basilica is located, will allow you to get a good view of the city… and even to see the Mont Blanc.
The Rhône and the Saône. These two rivers let you discover the city by sailing on river shuttles and thus have a different point of view. If you don’t like boats, the equipped quays are just as welcoming.
Depending on the spot, the atmosphere is different and I can guide you in your choice.

If you can’t choose and want to see everything: plan at least two days to take your couple photos.

But, you may ask, what did A and C finally choose? They chose a short cruise on the Saône followed by some photos at the Grand Hotel Dieu. They are delighted to have discovered this city and will finally come back with their loved ones to celebrate their elopment in Lyon.

One thing is sure: Lyon has nothing to envy to Paris and the photo spots are numerous.
